3c7c4e9f5c tests: move testutils module into separate crate
The `testutils` module should ideally not be part of the library
dependencies. Since they're used by the integration tests (and the CLI
tests), we need to move them to a separate crate to achieve that.

b2e309c9e4 tests: stop libgit2 from reading configs in lib tests too
I had `init.defaultBranch = main` in my global config (just being
rolled out internally at Google, it seems), which made
`test_import_refs_reimport_head_removed()` and
`test_fetch_initial_commit()` fail. This fixes it.

efce1e54e6 tests: extract setup of libgit2 config to lib crate
We have some problems with non-hermetic tests in the lib crate, so
we'll want to reuse the setup code there.

c366795d80 tests: remove obsolete workaround for WorkingCopy reading from $HOME
Since d56ae79d3f, `WorkingCopy` no longer reads `.gitignores`
directly from `$HOME/.gitignore`, so we don't need the workaround to
prevent it in the tests.

ea5aa0a96d cleanup: replace some PathBuf args by &Path
In many of these places, we don't need an owned value, so using a
reference means we don't force the caller to clone the value. I really
doubt it will have any noticeable impact on performance (I think these
are all once-per-repo paths); it's just a little simpler this way.

0108673087 backend: let each backend handle root commit on write
This moves the logic for handling the root commit when writing commits
from `CommitBuilder` into the individual backends. It always bothered
me a bit that the `commit::Commit` wrapper had a different idea of the
number of parents than the wrapped `backend::Commit` had.

With this change, the `LocalBackend` will now write the root commit in
the list of parents if it's there in the argument to
`write_commit()`. Note that root commit itself won't be written. The
main argument for not writing it is that we can then keep the fake
all-zeros hash for it. One argument for writing it, if we were to do
so, is that it would make the set of written objects consistent, so
any future processing of them (such as GC) doesn't have to know to
ignore the root commit in the list of parents.

We still treat the two backends the same, so the user won't be allowed
to create merges including the root commit even when using the
`LocalBackend`.

76fd6a830d CommitBuilder: take parents as argument in for_new_commit()
It's rare to want to create a commit directly off of the root commit,
so let's have the caller tell us which parents they want.

25b922cd0b store: reduce duplication in Workspace and Repo init code
There is a bit of duplicated across the three functions for creating a
`Workspace` and `Repo`. This patch reduces that duplication by passing
in a closure.

In addition to reducing duplication, this is a step towards making it
easier to add new backends.

1b5cd140d5 CommitBuilder: remove unneeded store arguments
The `CommitBuilder::store` field is used only in
`CommitBuilder::write_to_repo()`, but we can easily get access to the
`Store` from the `repo` argument there, so let's remove the field.

5c6f82ec7b tests: remove &UserSettings argument from TestRepo::init()
We don't even have any settings that affect the repo, so there's no
point in passing the settings. I think this was a leftover from before
we separated out the "workspace" concept; now we no longer create a
working-copy commit when we initialize a repo (we do that when we
attach the workspace).

a9d1b16937 workspace: canonicalize workspace and repo paths internally
We depend on comparing the workspace root with the Git repo's path to
know if we're sharing the working copy with it. For that to work
reliably, we need the paths to be canonicalized, so that's what this
patch tries to do.

abedeeaacf tests: rename init_repo() to init_workspace()
Most tests need a repo but don't need a working copy. Let's have a
function for setting up a test repo. But first, let's free up the name
`init_repo()` by renaming it to `init_workspace()` (which is also more
accurate).

466d35d4bc workspace: add functions for initializing a repo
`ReadonlyRepo::init_*()` currently calls `WorkingCopy::init()`. In
order to remove that dependency, this patch wraps the
`ReadonlyRepo::init_*()` functions in new `Workspace` functions. A
later patch will have those functions call `WorkspaceCopy::init()`.`

c0ae4b16e8 trees: try to resolve file conflicts after simplifying conflicts
This fixes a bug I've run into somewhat frequently. What happens is
that if you have a conflict on top of another conflict and you resolve
the conflict in the bottom commit, we just simplify the `Conflict`
object in the second commit, but we don't try to resolve the new
conflict. That shows up as an unexpected "conflict" in `jj log`
output, and when you check out the commit, there are actually no
conflicts, so you can just `jj squash` right away.

This patch fixes that bug. It also teaches the code to work with more
than 3 parts in the merge, so if there's a 5-way conflict, for
example, we still try to resolve it if possible.

03ae1b747c repo_path: remove FileRepoPath in favor of just RepoPath
I had initially hoped that the type-safety provided by the separate
`FileRepoPath` and `DirRepoPath` types would help prevent bugs. I'm
not sure if it has prevented any bugs so far. It has turned out that
there are more cases than I had hoped where it's unknown whether a
path is for a directory or a file. One such example is for the path of
a conflict. Since it can be conflict between a directory and a file,
it doesn't make sense to use either. Instead we end up with quite a
bit of conversion between the types. I feel like they are not worth
the extra complexity. This patch therefore starts simplifying it by
replacing uses of `FileRepoPath` by `RepoPath`. `DirRepoPath` is a
little more complicated because its string form ends with a '/'. I'll
address that in separate patches.

69de4698ac tests: set $HOME in a few tests to avoid depending in developer's ~/.gitignore
I just changed my `~/.gitignore` and some tests started failing
because the working copy respects the user's `~/.gitignore`. We should
probably not depend on `$HOME` in the library crate. For now, this
patch just makes sure we set it to an arbitrary directory in the tests
where it matters.

a8a9f7dedd init: add support for creating new repo backed by bare git repo in .jj/git/
It's annoying to have to have the Git repo and Jujube repo in separate
directories. This commit adds `jj init --git`, which creates a new
Jujube repo with an empty, bare git repo in `.jj/git/`. Hopefully the
`jj git` subcommands will eventually provide enough functionality for
working with the Git repo that the user won't have to use Git commands
directly. If they still do, they can run them from inside `.jj/git/`,
or create a new worktree based on that bare repo.

The implementation is quite straight-forward. One thing to note is
that I made `.jj/store` support relative paths to the Git repo. That's
mostly so the Jujube repo can be moved around freely.
